What is Econometrics?
Econometrics is a scientific discipline that empirically examines the relationships between economic data using mathematical and statistical methods. The primary goal of econometrics is to analyze various economic problems and to facilitate the making of optimal economic decisions. In recent years, the rapid advancement of computer technology has expanded the possibilities of developing economic theories through numerical analyses, which in turn has accelerated the progress of the field of econometrics.

About the Econometrics Department at Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University
The Econometrics Department consists of the major fields of Statistics and Operations Research. The duration of education is four years, and the language of instruction is Turkish. Students who wish to do so may attend a one-year English preparatory program. Additionally, our department has minor program agreements with the Departments of Economics and Business Administration. The Econometrics Department is composed of 2 associate professors and 2 assistant professors. Established in 2012, the department started its education with a quota of 30 students as of the 2024-2025 academic year.

Graduates will possess both theoretical and practical knowledge related to economics, statistics, and computer software.

Career and Internship Opportunities for Graduates
Graduates of the Econometrics Department have employment opportunities in various institutions such as the Ministry of Development, Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT), Central Bank, Capital Markets Board (SPK), Ministry of Treasury and Finance, research units of all banks and ministries, insurance and research companies. Additionally, they have the potential to find employment in any sector where economists are employed.
